President John Evans Atta Mills on Monday commended Ghanaian teachers for their sacrifices, and assured them of increased Government's intervention to improve their welfare and working conditions.
He paid special tribute to teachers serving in the interior and deprived areas for their unrelenting contribution to the nation's human capital formation, and encouraged them to give off their best.
President Mills, a law professor, told Ghanaian teachers that Ghana would ever be grateful to them for their invaluablecontributions to national development.
President Mills made the commendation in an interaction with the
53 selected best teachers for the 2011 edition of the National Best Teacher Awards, who called on him at the Osu Castle in Accra.
He said in spite of the challenges, teachers, especially those serving in rural areas, continued to contribute immensely towards the provision of quality education.
This years Best Teacher Awards instituted by Government would come off next Wednesday in Takoradi in the Western Region.
