The editor of The Enquirer newspaper, Raymond Archer has told citifmonline. com that the death of his Upper East regional correspondent Samuel Abane and 29 others in a motor crash, has left him devastated.
He said Abane's untimely death is a big blow to the newspaper and the Ghana media in general. "I'm totally devastated," Archer said. "It's really sad and a big loss to us all." "Abane is a dedicated journalist and work out of passion. I met him last week in Accra and he was planning to pursue his long distance education programme.
"He actually finalized everything in Accra last week and left to Tamale. This is really sad. I'm on leave and was just about to resume and this sad news hit me in the face," Archer said.
The newspaper editor is yet to meet the family members of Abane to discuss arrangements for his funeral.
Abane was among 30 people who are reported dead in a motor crash on Saturday morning. His body was identified by a colleague journalist at the Tamale Government Hospital while on a tour with the metropolitan mayor.
