The Ghana Bar Association (GBA) has pledged its support for the new Attorney General, Dr. Benjamin Kumbour.
Dr. Kumbour takes over from Mr. Martin Amidu who was dismissed by the President last week for misconduct.
Speaking to Citi News, Public Relations Officer of the Association, Tony Forson said the Lawyers Association expect the new Attorney General to execute his duties with the desire to pursue justice.
He said once the Attorney General is appointed, he automatically becomes the leader of the bar. The bar would always recognise him as such.
We believe he would make a fine Attorney General but as to the direction he should take, that one is the business of his government and their policy.
As for the Bar Association, we would wish him well and hope that as a lawyer of his calibre, he would uphold the constitution and advice the government in accordance with good conscience.
