A CITY trader has denied gambling away a record 1.5BILLION in Britain's biggest banking fraud.
Kweku Adoboli, 31, will now face trial over claims he lost the cash while working for Swiss banking giant UBS.
Adoboli thanked Judge Alistair McCreath at Southwark Crown Court as he set a provisional trial date in September. The banker, from Tower Hamlets, East London, denies two counts of fraud and two counts of false accounting.
Adoboli worked for the firm's global synthetic equities division. Prosecutors allege he gambled away the huge sum while buying and selling exchange traded funds which track different types of stocks, bonds or commodities such as metals.
The trial is set for September 3.
