The dusk to dawn curfew that was imposed on Hohoe in the Volta region following clashes that claimed the lives of two people has been extended to 6.30pm instead of 6.00pm only for today.
According to Citi News Richard Mensah, who is with the delegation of the Vice President, John Mahama, that is visiting the township, the extension became necessary to enable the vice president to finish with his official duties.
He said the curfew will be enforced from 7.00pm by which time the Vice President and his entourage would have left the township.
He said Mr. Mahama is meeting with the leaders of the feuding parties as well as ascertain the extent of damage in a melee that resulted in the destruction of the paramount chiefs palace, Togbega Gabusu, of the Gbi Traditional Area.
Some Muslim youth rampaged in the township on Monday after the body of an Imam, Alhaji Alhassan was exhumed on the alleged orders of Togbega Gabusu, whose car was also burnt.
