The packaging unit of the Tema Chemicals Company Limited (CHEMICO) was on Tuesday razed to the ground by fire at the company�s premises at Community One in Tema around 1525 hours.
It took a combine team of personnel from the Tema Regional National Fire Service, the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) and Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) about two and half hours before they could bring the fire under control.
Narrating the incident to the Ghana News Agency, Mr Timothy Affum, Tema Regional Public Relations Officer of the Fire Service said around 1525 hours the body received a call informing it about the fire outbreak at the company.
Mr Affum said when they got to the scene they were able to mobilise five vehicles from the Fire Service, two from GPHA and one from TOR to fight the fire.
He said the cause of the outbreak could not be immediately established although investigations are underway to unravel the mystery.
