A 20-year-old man, Moro Yakubu, is being sought for by the Prestea Huni-Valley Police for allegedly beheading his cousin.

Yakubu is said to have been angry with his uncle for failing to secure him a job and in his absence decapitated his (uncle's) nine year old son as a form of “retribution” for his “misdeed.”

The body of the nine year old boy, Bashiru Yakubu nine, has been deposited at the Wassa Akropong government hospital mortuary.

The Prestea Huni-Valley, District Police Crime officer, ASP Emmanuel Nwinsori, told Graphic Online that Moro Yakubu was brought from the North to Wassa Abuabo in the Western Region, to help his uncle in his cocoa farming activities.

He said after working on the farm for sometime, Moro lost interest in farming and demanded that his uncle secured him a job.

According to Mr Nwinsori, his uncle, who was due to embark on a journey to the northern part of the country, promised to secure him a job as soon as he returned.

He said while his uncle was away in the north, Moro engaged in illegal gold mining, also known as galamsey but unfortunately for him, he had two of his fingers chopped off by a machine in the galamsey operation.

The suspect became very angry and stated that if his uncle had secured him the job, he would not have engaged in galamsey and would therefore, not have lost his fingers.

ASP Nwinsori said his uncle failed to secure him the job even after his return from the north and in his anger and frustration, Yakubu refused to assist him on his farm.

He said on Saturday, when his uncle had gone to his farm to harvest cocoa, the suspect took advantage of his absence, pushed his cousin into a room and chopped off his head.

After committing the dastardly act, Moro entered his uncle’s room, stole GHc260 and bolted.

The district crime officer said the police had mounted a man-hunt for the suspect.

He said the murder of the nine-year old boy brought the number of murders in the district this year to three.
