One person lost his life with two others in critical condition when a confrontation ensued between the police and a group of people at Nadowli in the Upper West Region.

Explaining what led to the confrontation, Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP Cephas Arthur said an indigene lodged a complaint against another person in the same district (unidentified) and in a bid for the police to arrest the culprit, the confrontation arose.

Speaking in an interview on Peace FM on Wednesday 27th February, DSP Cephas Arthur indicated that per their report, one of the four policemen who was going to arrest the culprit accidentally shot a member of the group; who died instantly.

The fracas also led to the injury of one other indigene and a police personnel.

According to DSP Cephas Arthur, investigations are still on-going to ascertain what led to the confrontation and whether the fault was from the police or the unidentified group of people. He added that the names of those involved in the confrontation will appear in a report that will come after their investigations.
