Police in the Ashanti Region are seeking Chinese interpreters to facilitate investigations into the killing of two Ghanaian galamsey workers by some Chinese small scale miners.
The Ghanaians were shot dead on Thursday in what police describe as concession conflict with the Chinese. The two Chinese were arrested but investigations have stalled following a language barrier.
The Ashanti Region Police Command took over investigations from the Obuasi police to hasten investigations into the matter but the Regions Police PRO ASP Mohammed Tanko told Joy News they are constrained.
He said they are still searching for Chinese interpreters to assist with investigations.
