Sixteen people were arrested by the Asahiman Divisional Police Command on Saturday for possessing narcotic drugs and offensive weapons, engaging in landguard activities and robbery.
The suspects, 13 men and three women, aged between 17 and 51 years were picked at their different hideouts during a six hour swoop by personnel of Ghana Police, led by the Divisional Police Service Commander, Chief Superintendent David Eklu.
The arrests were made at Bediako, Oyibi, Dodowa, Ayikuma and Ashaiman.
Briefing the Ghanaian Times, Chief Supt, Eklu said all the arrested persons would be put on an identification parade on Tuesday.
He said that the exercise which started at 4:00 am was conducted based on intelligence about criminal activities in the areas.
Chief Supt. Eklu disclosed that some of the items retrieved from the, included quantity of compressed substances suspected to be Indian hemp, cutlasses, pair of scissors, cutters and three motor bikes.
Also retrieved from them were 30 mobile phones and a desk top computer all believed to have been stolen.
