Three out of four teenage boys who conspired and executed a robbery attack on an aunty of one of the suspects with kitchen knives have been arrested by the Teshie District Police in Accra.

The boys Larry Boateng 17, David Manphy 18, Anab Lennox 18 have been remanded by the Circuit Court One judge into Police Custody to re-appear on July 8, 2013 for hearing.

The fourth suspect also 18, whose name was given only as Spancy, is on the run.

David is a son of a senior military female officer with the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), serving on a peacekeeping mission with the United Nations (UN), whiles Larry, lived in the US with his mother, but was brought home to further his education.

Anab is awaiting his West Africa Examination Council Certificate (WASSCE) results after completing St John’s Senior High School at Sekondi in the Western Region and lives in Adenta.

18-year-old Anab, whose father is an educationist, is said to havep rovided the kitchen knives for the crime. Larry, David and Spancy all are form two students of Labone Senior High School, where they are reading separate courses.

Briefing The Herald newspaper last Wednesday, the District Commander of the station, Superintendent Samuel Tibil Punobyin said Larry, whose mother usually sends him money through the victim, Abigail Annang, and also aware she usually keeps the money in her bag anytime she goes out, planned with his three friends to pull a fast one on the lady and rob her.

The plan was for Larry, to give the contact number of his aunty Abigail to Spancy to call her to book an appointment for a birthday cake for a girlfriend.

According to Mr. Punobyin, the victim unknowingly agreed, and so on the day of the appointment after church, she agreed to meet Spancy with her taxi driver so that they could go to his house for the desired type of cake.

On their way, Madam Abigail became very suspicious of the direction Spancy was giving, since the area which is around the Teshie Military Barracks off the Teshie Bush Road did not look like a place that people resided, as the place looked undeveloped.

Mr Punobyin, continued that whiles Spancy encouraged her that truly their house was somewhere ahead of them, he intentionally dropped his mobile phone outside of the Opel Astra Taxi with registration number GS960Z.

The driver, Godwin Ackumey stopped for Spancy to pick his phone, but his two friends David and Anab emerged from where they were hiding, pulling kitchen knives on the taxi driver and Abigail asking her to surrender her bag which contained One Thousand Five Hundred Ghana Cedis (GH¢15,000). Whiles the frightful incident lingered on, Spancy vanished into thin air.

After the two youngsters bolted with the bag, a despaired Abigail spotted one Sergeant Nani Solomon from Burma Camp, who could not believe criminals will dare lurk around the military’s environs.

Mr. Solomon quickly called some of his colleagues at the barracks, who mounted an intense search leading to the arrest of David and Anab in the bush, and handed them over to the Teshie Police Station.

Abigail, told the officers she suspected Larry, considering the information available to the three suspects.

Larry, was subsequently, arrested last Monday June 24, 2013 at his Osu home. Spancy is still on the run and is being sought after by the police.
