The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has urged the church to remain relentless in the fight to purge the country of corruption, social exclusion and other injustices.

He urged it to work with zeal and passion to build society on strong moral values and ethics.

The Asantehene made the call when he received the joint delegation of the Presbyterian and Methodist Churches to the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.

He saluted them for their immense role in alleviating poverty and transforming society.

He also lauded the church for its human-centered ministry, which he said, has touched lives particularly, of those in deprived communities, citing the building of schools and health facilities as major developments from the church.

The delegation was at the Palace to introduce its recently inducted leaders, the Reverend Amfo Akonnor, the Asante Presbytery Chairman of the Presbyterian' Church of Ghana, and Mr Kwasi Atta-Antwi, the Kumasi Diocesan Lay Chairman of the Methodist Church, to the King.

The Asantehene also asked the leadership of the church to focus on strengthening their internal structures, to consolidate the gains made over the years.

The Right Reverend Professor Osei Safo-Kantanka, the Methodist Bishop of Kumasi, pledged to deepen the church's relationship with Manhyia, to promote development.
