Authorities at the Central Regional Hospital are appealing for support for a mentally challenged woman, who managed to deliver a baby after suffering epilepsy.
Hospital management said they were unable to trace the family of the 27-year-old, who they identified as Maama Tawiah.
The woman was brought to the hospital by one Elizabeth Odame, said to be an Assembly woman at Jukwa Breman, after she found her in a pool of blood, while the umbilical cord had entangled the babys neck.
Doctors say the mentally challenged woman is still in a critical condition and requires blood transfusion although the baby is in good condition and had been discharged.
Kafui Justice, a correspondent with Adom FM reported that a search party had been dispatched to locate the family of the woman. Kafui, who had to pay GH100 for the upkeep of Maame Tawiah said, The hospital management is considering sending the baby to the Social Welfare Department.
