The Director of Public Police Affairs, DSP Cephas Arthur, has cautioned Ghanaians to be vigilant in their homes as part of measures to curb the increasing spate of murder.

“There is the need for individuals to put in place additional security for themselves,” he cautioned.

His call comes on the back of the increasing spate of murder that happened over the past few weeks in the Tema Metropolis.

In an interview with Citi News DSP Cephas Arthur said in view of the numerous Church activities that Christians will be involved in especially on 31st night, asked Ghanaians not to leave their homes without any security measures in place adding that those who can afford Close Circuit Television (CCT) cameras should put them in their homes.

He also advised people to be mindful of the artisans they employ in their homes since some artisans act as spies for thieves “by unveiling people’s properties and their vulnerability.”

“We should be careful where we keep our keys because the door mat is no more safe. Hedges around our houses must be trimmed so that they don’t serve as hiding places for thieves,” he advised.

DSP Cephas Arthur further advised persons living alone or in isolated places to try and live with other people or develop good relationships with their neighbours.

He said this will help in protecting people as well as their properties.
