Richard Osei Kuffour, a resident of Bekwai in the Ashanti Region, was arrested yesterday at Adansi-Asokwa in full military gear and shackled into police cell.

He was being sought for by police officers at Obuasi after escaping arrest for a similar offence, claiming to be a military sergeant with service number 190456 and stationed at Takoradi in the Western Region.

According to a police source, the suspect had operated an elaborate scheme including bonking young women and bilking some residents of Bekwai, Fomena, Obuasi, Adansi Asokwa and surrounding areas.

He was arrested on suspicion and had since confessed to the crime of impersonation, but yet to admit the fraud charge, and is expected to be arraigned before court today.

The suspect told police investigators that he bought the military accoutrements from a second-hand cloth seller as he fancied the work of the military, the paper was hinted.

The police also believed the man had operated in other communities outside the Obuasi Divisional Police Command and would, therefore, extend their investigations to other areas.
