Road Traffic Education Without Enforcement Is Entertainment – FRSC Boss

The Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) in Nigeria, Corps Marshal Osita Chidoka has called for drastic reduction of human intervention in the enforcement of road traffic laws.

Corps Marshal Chidoka made this call when he paid a visit on the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Ahmed Alhassan at the Police Headquarters in Accra.

The Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service has disclosed that 2,096 lives were lost through motor accidents and 12,655 persons were injured nationwide in 2013.

The National Road Safety Commission has been embarking on sensitization programmes across the country to reduce to the barest minimum, the cases of road accidents.

According to Corps Marshal Chidoka, the panacea for the reduction of road carnage is the enforcement of road traffic regulation since education without actual enforcement is entertainment.
