The Minister of Tourism and Creative Arts, Ms Elizabeth Ofosu Agyare, has expressed satisfaction at the preparation made towards the Okwahu Paragliding Festival at Atibie in the Kwahu South District.
She said rehabilitation works on the bad portion of the 10-kilometer Nkawkaw/Atibie road and the take off point on the Odwenanoma Mountain had almost been completed and foreign pilots who will fly the tourists have started arriving.
Ms Agyare, who was briefing the media after inspecting the works, said the police administration will send 500 police personnel to the Kwahu area to ensure security.
The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) and the National Ambulance Service would provide assistance and other emergency services.
The Minister advised Ghanaians to get involved in domestic tourism by visiting tourism sites to enhance the tourism industry.
The Eastern Regional Manager of the Ghana Highway Authority, Mr. Eric Arthur, said plans were far advanced for the reconstruction of the 10-kilometer Nkawkaw/Atibie road after the Easter festivities.
The leader of the pilots, Mr. Eddie Stein from California in the US, said 15 pilots will arrive from other parts of the world within the week for the festival.
