Hajia Joyce Mahama Zeinab, a Deputy National Women’s Organizer of the NDC has revealed that the Deputy Regional Women’s Organizers of the NDC in the Greater Accra and Volta Regions respectively died in the car crash on the Kintampo-Sunyani road because when the accident happened, they were not wearing seat belts.

Speaking on Muntie FM yesterday, she said the driver of the Mahindra vehicle they were traveling in as well as Vivian Ankrah, the Greater Accra Regional Women’s organizer were saved because they were wearing seat belts.

Vivian Ankrah, who sustained injuries is currently on admission at the 37 Military Hospital. According to Hajia Zeinab, she was with the two at the funeral grounds at Kintampo together with other women organizers of the NDC throughout the funeral of the late Yaa Mercy Ankomah, elder sister of the First Lady.

In the evening, the trio of Vivian Ankrah, Agnes Tia and Hajia Sali decided to leave. Zeinab said observing the weather that it might rain and knowing how treacherous the Sunyani-Kintampo road can be, she prevailed on them to stay and leave at dawn.

“They agreed initially as a result of which I managed to secure a place for them to spend the night but they later decided to leave that evening because they had other engagements in Accra,” Hajia Zeinab said.

According to the Deputy National Women’s Organizer, barely 45 minutes after they had left, she received a call with the information that the trio with their driver had been involved in a crash leaving Sali and Agnes dead. Zainab revealed that a Yutong bus swerved into their path from the opposite direction and resulted in a head-on collision.

She said if the two, Hajia Adiza Sali and Agnes Tia who were both sated at the back had been wearing seat belts, they may be alive today.
