Rainbow Radio Sports Journalist Named Nkosuohene Of Wawase

A 38-year-old Sports Journalist, News Caster and Entrepreneur with Rainbow Radio International (Accra and London) has been named the Nkosuohene (Developmental Chief) of Wawase, near Nkawkaw in the Eastern.

Blessing Kwabena Asirifi was named the Nkosuohene when he donated some items to the chiefs and people of the town to facilitate education and farming.

Installation is expected to take place in the coming months.
The people of Wawase are predominantly farmers but their farming activities are not on the large scale as such his commitment to contribute to farming.

One area was also on education and football.

At a colourful ceremony which was attended by chiefs, children, elder, men and women, Blessing Asirifi presented items such as mathematical instruments, exercise books, pens, erasers, pencils, Wallenstein boots, machetes, and a set of jersey to the people.

The items were worth about three thousand Ghana cedis (GHc3, 000.00).
Speaking in an interview with Rainbow Radio International’s Nyankonton Mu Nsem, Blessing Asirifi, who is also the Chief Executive Officer for Nhyira Mma Movie Productions explained that he grew up in the area, went to school in the area and so the economic and educational standard of the area.

Mr. Asirif said the only source of income for the people in the area is farming and as such, needs support to enable them contribute to the national economy.

On education, the movie maker and actor explained that quality education should not be left for government alone hence his decision to support the children from primary one (P1) to Senior High Schools in the area with educational materials.

He charged the people to make good use of the educational materials and take their studies serious to enable become good citizens in the future.

The Chief of the town, Nana Agyapong Ntra I told Rainbow Radio International Nyankonton Mu Nsem that Nhyiraba’s contribution to farming and education has been unprecedented in the history of the town.

He said if people who have attain such positions in the society would emulate what the sports journalist did, Ghana would be a better place to live.

Nana Ntra I called on the government to as matter of urgency, rehabilitate the dilapidated road from Nkawkaw to New Abirem which is one of the busiest roads in the area.

He said since the road was constructed in the 1970s, no rehabilitation has been done, leaving farmers, vehicle owners and residents to struggle on the road to get to their various destinations.

On education, Nana Ntra I explained that educational infrastructure and human resource are available in the area, yet parents are adamant in sending their wards to school.

He called on parents to change such an attitude since education is the key to development.
