The Eastern Naval Command (ENC) of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) last Sunday arrested 15 fishermen for light fishing.
The illegal fishers were arrested on the sea at the south of Ada at about 9.30pm.
Lieutenant Maxwell Asola, the Eastern Naval Command Public Relations Officer, told a section of the press that the 15 were arrested during the Navy's usual patrol of Ghana’s waters.
Thirty-one generators and 32 fishing lights and accessories were impounded from the 15 fishermen who were in separate fishing vessels.
The suspects, he said, had been handed over to the Tema Railways and Harbours Police.
When The Finder visited the Tema Railways and Harbours Police on the matter, officers maintained that they could not give further information about the suspects until their commander, who had travelled for a funeral, returned.
