The Dademantse for Korle Nkwanta, Nene Korle I, has called on aspiring unit committee members, to demonstrate their commitment to serve for their whole four-year term .
He said it is not good enough to serve for only three to four months, and then abandon their posts, as has been happening in the past.
Dademantse Korle made the call at a platform mounted by the Electoral Commission for aspiring assembly and unit committee members of the Nyerede North electoral area at Korle Nkwantah, near Koforidua.
The electoral area has three aspiring assembly members and nine aspiring unit committee members.
The incumbent, Emmanuel Opoku Gyemfi, seeking for a third term, indicated due to his good attitude towards the environment, no cholera was recorded in his electoral area during the recent cholera outbreak.
He indicated that, through his initiative, Abansro Newton has been connected to the national grid, and they have their permanent transformer.
Mr Gyemfi said, he has facilitated the construction of a six-unit classroom block for the Agavenya community, to improve education, and a borehole for the Akyekyesu community.
Mr Simon Abordo, an aspirant, said when voted into office, he would ensure that, all access roads in the electoral area were regularly maintained.
He indicated that, he would facilitate an application sent by the Landlords Association of the electoral area to the Ghana Water Company, to ensure that potable drinking water reached every home.
The third aspirant, Addo Newton, said he would form a project committee to ensure that, all projects undertaken in the area met the needs of the people.
He indicated that when voted into power, he would influence the New Juaben Municipal Assembly, to provide a public toilet for the community.
He would also ensure the regular supply of potable water to the community, and the provision of boreholes in areas which are far away from the pipe lines.
The electorate asked questions concerning, the persistent non flow of water in the community, the registration of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), how aspirant would generate other funds without relying on the assembly and bad roads in the electoral area.
The returning officer for the electoral area, Ms Langma Faustina, said this is the second time a platform has been created, for the aspirants to convince the electorate to vote for them in the electoral area, and described the function as very interactive.
