Five persons died instantly when a KIA truck full of scraps run over a KIA Rio Taxi in which they were travelling from Dunkwa to Wassa-Akropong in the Western Region.
The five were occupants of a KIA Rio Taxi with registration number AC 574 – 15.
Eye witnesses said the KIA truck with registration number, AS 872-10 was driving at top speed when the driver lost control of the steering wheel and run on the taxi.
Weeping family members of the deceased gave the name of the dead as Kwasi Kwabena Bi, 45, Kwamoah, 50, Ako Mensah, 70, Kwaku Polo, 32, and the driver, Korankye who is 25 years old.
The driver of the KIA truck who was driving alone escaped from the scene after the accident and the police have mounted a search for him.
An Information Services Department van which arrived at the venue conveyed the dead to the Wassa Akropong hospital morgue.
