Two persons, including one-and-a-half year old toddler, have perished in Kumasi, following a downpour and flooding in the metropolis at the weekend.
Abdul Bassit, the toddler, and an unidentified 50-year-old man, drowned in the floods at the Kumasi Airport and at the Dr Mensah area, near the Central Business District.
The bodies have since been deposited at the mortuary for autopsy.
Mallam Addey, a former Assemblyman for Aboabo Number One, speaking to the Ghana News Agency, appealed to the authorities to urgently desilt the Pelele stream.
The Metropolitan Office of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) when contacted confirmed the incident, and said plans were underway to assist the victims.
