Passengers who patronise the Kasoa-Accra Metro Mass Transit (MMT) service have expressed the frustrations they go through as a result of poor logistics provided by the MMT.

They said the tents provided by the MMT were all damaged and they had to stand in the scorching sun and rain while waiting to board the vehicles.

The passengers are also disappointed with the managers of the MMT because after the passengers have waited for long periods, they came out to tell them that there is no driver for a bus, causing the passengers, some of whom are workers, to get to work late or arrive home late.

They have appealed to the MMT authorities to take the necessary steps to address the situation to enable the passengers to arrive at their destinations on time.

A seller, Dorothy Yeboah, said they waited at the terminal for over 30 minutes only to be told that there was no driver to take them to their destination.

She also complained that the increase in the fare from GH¢1.60 to GH¢2.50 was too much.

She said the new buses were not as strong as the old ones and, therefore, could not carry heavy loads, as a result of which passengers with heavy goods or luggage were turned away.

The Manager of the Kasoa MMT,  Alhassan  Abubakar, appealed to the authorities to erect a quality tent at the terminal.

Explaining why the MMT had increased its fares, the manager said the new buses had electronic devices such as cameras and were air-conditioned and, therefore, more comfortable than the older ones, hence the higher charges.

Reacting to other concerns of patrons about the swipe cards, he said, the electronic devices were installed on the new buses to ensure proper accountability and safe keeping of money.

He said the government had planned to introduce special MMT buses for schoolchildren in uniform.

He could not tell whether the new bus service for schoolchildren would be free.
