One of many High Court judges implicated in the now-famous Anas Aremeyaw Anas Judicial Service bribery scandal, Justice Opoku has passed on.
Family sources tell Kasapa FM Opoku died at about 3pm local time Wednesday at Nkoranza in the Western Region.
Opoku and one other became the latest to be sanctioned when the Chief Justice fired them in late April, citing recommendations from the committee formed to investigate allegations brought against them.
In what is yet Ghana’s biggest corruption scandal, some 22 High Court Judges were captured on tape engaging in various acts that threatened the integrity of the judiciary.
The said tape was publicly screened to large numbers.
Some of the judges have since fought back saying Anas’ work paints a skewed impression.
