The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), has urged the public, especially churches to arrest unauthorised persons parading themselves as taskforce mandated to enforce the ban on drumming and noise making in the metropolis.
Mr Sam Ayeh-Datey, the Metropolitan Coordinating Director of the AMA in a statement copied to the Ghana News Agency said: "It has come to the notice of the AMA that apart from the taskforce put in place to coordinate and see to the successful implementation of the ban, some unknown people are going round harassing churches and the …public which has created tension in some communities."
He advised the public that apart from the constituted taskforce, which is mandated to purposely deal with offenders of the ban, nobody or group of persons have been empowered to undertake the task.
Mr Ayeh-Datey therefore urged the religious bodies to observe the rites preceding the celebration of the Homowo festival of the Ga Dangme people to avoid confusion as the ban is still in force.
