The Upper West Regional Police have arrested a 24-year-old man who posed as a military officer and claimed to belong to the "Operations Unit in Tema".
Mark Kabir was found in military uniform and had other military apparel in his possession during a search at his residence.

He is currently in police custody awaiting trial, after admitting to stealing the military apparel from a soldier he once served.

According to the Upper West Regional Crime Officer, Superintendent of Police, Mr Huseini Musah Awinaba, Kabir was spotted at Lawra in a pair of camouflage trousers and a green T-shirt used by the Ghanaian military.

He said the police became suspicious of his activities, since the Lawra District was not known to have soldiers operating there.

And when the police eventually approached him, he claimed to be a military officer with the ‘Operations Unit in Tema’.

Mr  Awinaba said when Kabir could not produce his identity card to back his claim, he was escorted to his room where some of the military apparel were found.

The crime officer said upon interrogation, the suspect admitted that he was once the house boy of a Tema-based military officer he named only as Agana whom he claimed had since retired.

Kabir also admitted to stealing the military gear.
