A 27-year-old medical doctor of the Nkawkaw Kenop Care Hospital, Dr. Enoch Ofosu Boakye, has been found dead in his car which was submerged in the Okwe stream, near the Akuse Junction.
The Akuse District Police Commander, ASP Francis Ackah, said around 4:30am Monday, the police received a distress call from a community member from Okwenya in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality in the Eastern region that someone had been found dead in his car in the Okwe stream.
According to Kwasi Prince, a local journalist, when the police got to the scene, they saw the traffic indicator lights of the car in the stream.
With the assistance of personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service at Kpong and some members of the Okwenya community, the body and the Toyota Corolla, with registration number GE 9954-14, were retrieved from the stream.
According ASP Ackah, preliminary investigation at the scene showed that Dr. Boakye was coming from the Somanya direction towards the Akuse Junction when the incident occurred.
When the police searched the pockets of the deceased, they found the car’s ignition key in his back pocket.
According to the District Commander, Dr. Boakye might have removed the ignition key when he fell into the stream with the car.
He said the body had been deposited at the Akuse Government Hospital for autopsy.

I have still not recovered from the shock. How could an ignition key be found in a back pocket of a dying driver? I still smell a rat of a foul play-he could have been strangled by a group of guys around just to deceive the public that he incidentally plunged into the dangerous stream. The police must dig deeper into this unfortunate incident.
Please am petitioning the governing council to dismiss this young brain(police)
That bridge at okwenya is a real deathtrap and overfloods anytime it rains, that route which had been diverted from the bridge for cars to use where the incident happened is worst off. I think he didn't know or it was intentional since the key was found in the 'back pocket'
the police mans conclusion is somehow how unbelievable
The police officer's conclusion is somehow questionable. They need to dig deeper and find something more convincing to tell the public.
The Senior Police Officer needs to go back to college to refresh his working knowledge, how can a whole District Police Commander share a thought like this to the general public. Foul play could happen in such cases, since a man who might be struggling to get his way out in an accident, cant concentrate on removal of the car key, and put it at back of his pocket. Wake up Papa Koti.
Strange, key in his pocket, no no no something don't add up.
If you have police in a country reasoning like this, we shouldn't be surprised at how the system is messed up. A man dying in a stream first thinks of removing the ignition, puts it in his pocket before he thinks about an escape. What a moron Police officer. You better start investigating murder here! Rubbish
