A former Senior Communications Advisor to former President John Mahama says he did his best to serve the interest of the President.

Ben Dotse Malor said he put his expertise in communications and information at the disposal of the former Ghanaian leader for him to succeed in the country.

Speaking on MultiTV Tuesday, he said he discharged his role as expected by former President Mahama.

The former President appointed Mr Dotse Malor together with two others who were considered outsiders of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2014 after his victory in the 2012 presidential poll. Law lecturer Raymond Atuguba was also appointed as the Executive Secretary to the President and Prosper Bani was handed the Chief of Staff position.

However, the three considered as heavyweights in the Mahama-led government found their way out a year into the four-year term of the government.

Mr Atuguba went to back to the lecture room while Mr Malor was offered a job at the United Nations (UN) where he was working before he was invited to serve as the Communications Advisor. Rumors were rife that the three could not stay because they were ignored in meetings of government officials as a result of their opposition to certain practices.

Mr Bani was later to make a comeback in 2016 as the Interior Minister replacing former Navrongo Central Member of Parliament (MP), Mark Woyongo. Recalling his days at the Presidency, Mr Dotse Malor said he had no regret for serving former President Mahama. “It was a fantastic experience, I learned a lot and I wish I could have done more,” he said.

He said he had wanted to streamline communications at the Presidency to conform to how it is done at the White House in the United States (U.S.) and Britain’s Downing Street.

“I came with the basic notion of dying a little serving the President for him to succeed,” he said.
