An appeal has been made to the Ghana Education Service (GES) to transfer en masse teachers at the Hweehwee Roman Catholic Basic School, in the Kwahu East District, over poor academic performance of the students.
Mr. Solomon Aboagye, the assembly member, making the appeal through the Ghana News Agency (GNA), said the teachers were to blame for the persistent failure of candidates presented for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
He said their continued stay was unhelpful to the future - academic progression of the school children and should be removed.
He indicated that he had personally held series of meetings and interactions with the teachers to discuss how to change things but nothing positive seemed to be happening.
He said he was convinced that as long as they remained in the school, the children would continue to perform abysmally in the examination.
Mr. Kwesi Boafo, the District Education Director, when contacted, said he was yet to receive any complaint from the assembly member.
He encouraged the people to report anything they were unhappy about, concerning the work attitude of teachers, to his office for appropriate action.
