The Ghana National Gas Company has indicated that the four helicopters which were procured by the Mahama-led administration for its surveillance operations, are undergoing a forensic audit by the law enforcement agencies.
The four helicopters are yet to be used more than two years after they were bought for $100 million.
Dr Steve Manteaw, Chairman of Civil Society Platforms on Oil and Gas and a member of Public Interest and Accountability Committee (PIAC), told journalists on Wednesday, 24 January 2018 that not one of the Z-9EH helicopters, manufactured in China, is yet to be used for the purpose for which they were procured since President John Mahama commissioned them in September 2015.
"Since they were procured, they have never ever mounted a single surveillance operation," he said.
But a statement issued by the Head of Communications of Ghana Gas, Ernest Kofi Owusu-Bempah Bonsu, said: “On behalf of the Ghana Gas, we wish to say to the public that the procurement of the 4 Z-9EH helicopters in 2015 is an integral part of an operational forensic audit being conducted by the appropriate security and law enforcement agencies.
“Ghana Gas has confidence in the ongoing investigations and will duly make the findings known to the public once they are completed.”

The Choppers were bought in 2015, why didn't your party and then government use it for 2015 and 2016? Or the focus was more on only the "bounty" gotten from the procurement by then?
CLAP FOR NPP. WE ARE HEADING SOMEWHERE AND BY THE TIME WE REALISED, WE HAVE CUT OUR NOSE TO SPITE OUR FACE. PARK THE CHOPPERS IN THE HANGER AND AUDIT THE PROCESS AND BE DEPRECIATING THEM. WHEN WE FINISH THE DEPRECIATION, YOU WILL REALISED THAT IT HAS NOT BEEN USED AND WE SELL THEM TO OURSELVES AS SCRAPS THEN WE TURN ROUND AND PROCURE NEW ONES. THE PURPOSE OF THE PURCHASE WILL NOT BE ACHIEVED. WAOOOW! OSEEEEEEEEEEE NPP!
