The Volta Regional theatre complex for the Centre for National Culture (CNC) remains uncompleted for over two decades in the regional capital, Ho.

This is against the increasing number of entertainment shows and events at weekends and sometimes, weekdays.

A wind of decay is blowing over the structure tearing parts of the roofing, some covering the undone floors in several millimetres of dust.

Mr Jude Kubiti, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Centre told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on the sidelines of a three-day regional arts and culture fair that art industry players and event planners could not wait to revel in the completion of the theatre-friendly facility.

He noted that major stage productions had to be squeezed into inconvenient spaces at auditoriums  to contain the high numbers and such a facility was of high demand and it was time private investors considered helping to complete the project.

The PRO conducted GNA around the structure and pointed out the unsecured gates, adding that the initial plan included; a culture village, mini zoo, and crafts market, which would culminate into a one stop shop for tourism promotion, yet encroachments had eaten away a significant chunk of its land area.

Mr Kubiti said extra support was needed to produce more artefacts and cultural products to promote the rich values of Ghana.

The Centre when completed would have a 1,000 capacity auditorium, offices, and a stage complete with changing rooms.

The three day arts and culture fair featured craft producers and culture troupes from all districts in the region, and expected to prepare the region for the a national event later in the year.
