The Volta Region is expected to take its turn in the series of regional tours aimed at assessing the successes and impacts of the Government's flagship Planting for Food and Jobs programme.
The region, said to have recorded the highest increase in farmers' participation under the PFJ programme in 2018, will on Wednesday play host to the Minister of Food and Agriculture and his entourage as the team embarks on a three-day working visit to the region.
The Volta Region is predominantly engaged in rice and maize production under the PFJ programme and is leading the Government's agenda of increasing the production of quality local rice and ensuring the significant reduction in importation within the next three years.
The Minister and his entourage will visit a number of districts include North Dayi, Jasikan District, Afadzato and Kadjebi districts to interact with farmers, inspect fields and ongoing projects under the PFJ programme.
Amongst the farms the Minister is expected to visit include Maize fields at Badada, Osukonle Valley Akaa in the Jasikan District, Volta Red Farms and Trapigha Farms at Kadjebi and Kpando districts respectively.
Other areas are Kingdom Farms at Tali and Packhouse, Vakpo in the Afadzato and North Dayi districts.
