Exactly three years ago today, my Grandma Mma Alima Dagomba who took care of me at Nima died. She single handedly funded my Islamic education at Nima with her meager market sales and taught me how to “say it as it is” without fear or favour. When a Canadian team of filmmakers came to Ghana to do a film about me, (Chameleon) they asked that apart from my parents, who else has inspired me? I took them straight to Nima to meet my Grandma and to see Nima, where I grew up. I also introduced all the market women who helped shape my life. As I watch this video, I can only miss her. May Allah forgive Grandma and grant her jannatul firdaws. Ameen.
