Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has disclosed that the country is likely to access the first tranche of the 2 billion dollars SINOHYDRO infrastructure for bauxite facility deal in the early part of next year.

According to the Minister, after the initial hurdles were successfully managed, Ghana is ready to tap into the first tranche of the Master Project Support Agreement between the Government of Ghana and SINOHYDRO of China worth $649 million dollars which was entered into last year and subsequently approved by Parliament.

Speaking at the first in the series of his bi-weekly media briefing, Hon Oppong Nkrumah, indicated that two sets of contracts, namely Engineering Procurement Construction contracts (EPC) and Deferred Payment Agreements (DPA) have to this effect been laid before Parliament.

He therefore elaborated that Parliament’s Finance committee and Roads and Highways committee are scheduled to meet on the agreements at 2pm Wednesday, after which the committee’s report will be presented to the plenary hopefully before the end of this month to pave way for construction work to begin.

Below is the list of roads that the first tranche of the facility will be used to construct:

3. Tamale Interchange Project--- 1

4. PTC Roundabout Interchange Project, Takoradi--- 1

5. Adenta- Dodowa Dual Carriageway--- 14.00km

6. Sunyani Inner City Roads--- 39.00km

7. Western region and Cape Coast Inner City roads--- 32.19km

8. Upgrading of Selected Feeder Roads in Ashanti and Western Regions--- km
 
9. Rehabilitation of  Oda-Ofoase-Abirem Road--- 38.00km

10. Construction of Hohoe - Jasikan - Dodo Pepesu--- 66.40km
