A High Court in Accra has placed an injunction on the upcoming congregation of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) slated for Friday.

According to the Court, the injunction is valid for 10 days after which the plaintiffs may apply for a renewal.

The court granted the ex parte motion for injunction after perusing the affidavit of the plaintiff, Eric Amon Neequaye, in support of the motion and upon hearing the submission of the counsel for the plaintiff, Jonathan Sarblah.

The order as sighted by 3news.com indicates that the defendants, KNUST, and its affiliate, Africa Institute of Sanitation and Waste Management, are restrained from conducting graduation ceremony and/or convocation slated for Friday, February 1 and Saturday, February 2, 2019 without the inclusion and the issuance of certificate to the plaintiff.

Lawyer Sarblah argues that the fundamental human rights of his clients have been trampled upon.

The plaintiff is a legitimate student of the Africa Institute of Sanitation and Waste Management affiliated to the KNUST after fulfilling all entry requirements and enrolling on October 8, 2015.

He was admitted into a five-month post graduate diploma in Urban Planning Environmental Sanitation and Waste Management.

He was scheduled to graduate and receive certification in November, 2017, according to an attestation letter handed him on August 29, 2017.

However, KNUST has failed, refused and neglected to graduate and certify the plaintiff for a programme that cost him GH¢25,000.

Even a letter dated January 16, 2019 from his lawyers to the school did not receive the needed attention. KNUST-affiliated university not reopened almost 2yrs; no explanation to students.
