Government has placed a temporary ban on the importation of excavators as it strengthens fight against illegal mining among others.
The ban takes effect from May 1, 2019.
A statement from the Transport Ministry says the directive will remain so until further notice.
The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting which took place on March 27, 2019.

The statement dated April 1 was signed by the Minister of Transport Kwaku Ofori Asiamah.
Urging the public to comply with the directive, the statement added, ” the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority and Ministry of Trade and Industry have taken note of the directive by Cabinet”.
