Hundreds of mourners will tomorrow July 19, 2019 pay their last respects to former popular radio host on Peace FM, Maa Afia Konadu.
Auntie Afia Konadu personified professionalism in radio broadcasting. On Saturday July 20, 2019, hundreds of mourners are expected to pay their last respects to the former popular radio icon during her final funeral rites at the Victory Congregation of the Presbyterian Church in Adenta-Frafraha, a suburb of Accra. she was 68.
Popularly known as Maame Afia Konadu, who hosted popular radio programmes on Peace FM and Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) such as 'Wo haw ne sɛn', 'Mpom Te Sɛn' and 'Asomdwee NkomƆ', sadly passed on to eternal glory on Wednesday, May 1 in the United States of America (USA) after a short illness.
Maa Afia, as she was popularly called, retired from hosting radio programmes in 2015 after working for over 15 years with the Despite Group.
She was part of the pioneering team of Peace FM in 1999.
Before joining Peace FM, she worked with the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) when she ceased working as a school teacher.
But her over four decades in the media space was just the start of the résumé of a woman who changed the way social issues was covered, hosted and presented on radio during the advent of media pluralism.
Ahead of final journey to eternal rest on Saturday, Kokrokoo, the flagship programme on Peace FM, dedicated the entire show to her memory.
