Snapchat fans are so furious about the app's new logo that they're deleting it from their phones.

The social app has quietly updated its famous icon with a "bold new look" – but it's proving seriously unpopular online.

The Sun has tracked hundreds of tweets complaining about the redesigned logo.

The only obvious change is that the outline of the "ghost" icon is now slightly bolder.

But one angry user on Twitter compared described it as "ugly", and compared the new look to the widely-hated "bold comic sans" font.

Another said: "AYO @Snapchat I've had Snapchat since 2012! And still unable to update my username but y'all have had the time to update the icon to this ugly ish."

More worrying for Snapchat is the flurry of users who are deleting the app because of the redesign.

A frustrated Snapchatter said the app was so "f***ing NASTY" she would be deleting it completely.
Another said: "I hate the new Snapchat icon SO MUCH I'm considering f***ing deleting the whole app."

"The new Snapchat icon is so ugly I kind of want to delete it off my phone so I don't have to look at it," said another.

And one added: "Deleting Snapchat because I don't like the new icon."

The fiasco is reminiscent of Snapchat's controversial redesign in 2018.

The app underwent a huge transformation at the beginning of the year, but it was universally hated by users.

Even Snapchat superstar complained about the update, writing on Twitter: "Does anyone else not open Snapchat anymore?"

Kylie's comments wiped £1billion off the value of Snapchat, with her tweet earning an impressive 270,000 likes.

Snapchat is now facing similar criticisms from users.

The app has faced major issues trying to grow users and turn a profit.

Although user numbers are up in the latest quarter of 2019, daily users fell consistently throughout 2018.

And the firm has famously never recorded a profit.

We've asked Snapchat for comment and will update this story with any response.
