The leadership of the Ghana Trainee Teachers (GhaTT) has welcomed the decision by former President John Dramani Mahama to abolish the licensure examination for teachers if elected as President in the 2020 polls.
”We appreciate President Mahama’s declaration on the cancellation of the Licensure as a huge relief to Trainee Teachers in Ghana, and pray his office to consider restoring automatic postings of teachers when re-elected”, GhaTT had said in a statement signed by president of the union Mutawakil Ibn Nahsrulla
The lincensure examination, which the trainee teachers have argued frustrate the processes leading to their employment was initiated by the Akufo-Addo government to enable qualified teachers acquire a professional license to ply their trade and also improve the state of teaching in the country.
In February 2019, out of the 28,757 teachers who wrote the maiden examination, 21,297, representing 74 percent, passed, while 7,472 failed. The results of 26 candidates were also withheld pending investigations into alleged examination malpractices, while 12 teachers had their entire results cancelled.
While many institutions and teachers continued to describe the exercise as unnecessary, the outcome of the exams got social media blazing, with most Ghanaians lauding the exercise.
But acknowledging the support by the former President in a recent Facebook live post, the GhaTT said an examination which could lead to some teachers not being posted is not in their best interest, hence their appreciation to the former president for his stance.

Fake teachers! Any teacher in his right mind would abhor the name JDM: that monster which placed embargo on teacher's employment and those who were fortunate to be employed at that time had to forfeit all the months they worked except for only three months.
We the teachers are in support of the cancealation the teacher's liecetial exam.Jm you have my vote this time
because you people are very very very lazy
Very sure this is one of the fake news ever filed and read today but if true, then one would say no wonder we are where we are as a country. What makes one a professional?, Lawyers go to school alright yet they are called lawyers because of their license. A JHS student with driving passion would be qualified as a driver after he/she has obtained license. Society knows the value of our Teachers hence helping in obtaining their placement in the professional world and Government thinks this is the right way to go but if those so-called Professional Teachers don't it so be it. Our past has never been good hence the change, let embrace it and help place ourselves for that future recognition
The Government should take under stand on their allowances and cancel it because they like that one too and that was what john mahama did to them. They don't deserve anything good because they are ani*mals who can't think good ! in any civilized society teachers and nurses are given license to prove they are professionals and if these foo00*00ls think living in the jungle us better for them so eill follow a primitive leader let them go back to John mahama's time ! when they work for a year and are paid 3 months, when they finish school and there are no postings that is the mentality some people have in that country they scared of change but want the old allowances to stay they want to enjoy but scared of change! I pity our civilized leaders who want to move Ghana to the civilized world but having stone age people living among them and trying to draw everything back.CANCEL THE ALLOWANCES if they don't want the licence! Atiwiifuo and how can they teach our children better if they are afraid of examination! Wei ! mahama is not coming today or tomorrow so your wishes are dead it's either you sit for the exams to get a professional licence or you stay home that's all! even in America nurses Aids a course of less than 6 months need after getting your certificate from school need to sit for state exams to get a licence to operate in any hospital else you stay home because it is a requirement for job ! only atiwiifuo will fight ag as instructed this and welcome a decision from a dea*dgoat who can't take decisions! I wish the licence of that teachers leader is taking away for him to stay home and wait for when John mahama will come which is not possible for the next 50 years !
Nkwasiiai%#@fo.....Teachers paa dey fear exams for Professional certificate?? Pity!! No wonder the caliber of teachers and quality of tuition these days. Ah in those days paaa teachers dey bee but nowadays de333.....hmmm
