Mr Paul Evans Aidoo, Western Regional Minister has reiterated government commitment to expanding telecommunication infrastructure to make information and data accessible to every Ghanaian.
He said the government considered the mobile industry as important to the development of the country.
Mr Aidoo was speaking at the launch of MTN's 3.5G technology for the Western and Central regions in the Takoradi at the weekend and lauded the introduction of the system in the western region in particular.
He said "knowledge transfer via data and video conferences will be enhanced to improve learning within the region".
Mr Aidoo commended MTN for living up to their corporate social responsibility as well as creating employment avenues for the population.
Mr George Andah, Chief Marketing Officer, MTN said already, Accra, Kumasi and Tema had been hooked onto the system.
He said MTN's 3.5G technology would allow subscribers to have greater transmission speed of existing services such as voice, data and text and that corporate customers could also enjoy data download.
