Professor Nicholas Nicodemus Nana Nsowah-Nuamah, rector of the Kumasi Polytechnic has revealed strenuous strides the institution has undertaken in assembling solar powered components to alleviate the stress most Ghanaians go through when the nation runs of liquefied petroleum gas.

In his estimation, it was convenient to store the excess sun rays tropical countries are blessed with and use it to improve upon human life.

Among the solar items the institution has managed to produce include a food cooker, wheel chair and a fufu pounding machine.

According to Professor Nicholas Nsowah-Nuamah, the items they have manufactured should be considered as a blessing for the nation considering some of the economic hardships that is stalling social activities.

In an interview with Okay FM, Professor Nsowah-Nuamah explained that in place of the man power that is used to prepare fufu, one could use the solar powered fufu machine to do the same work less than the man power time.

He added that one only needed to store enough sun and watch the machine do the pounding for him or her.

He followed up with an enlightenment that disabled men and women who used man power to drive their wheelchair along would have it much easier if they are to experiment with the institution’s innovation.

Professor Nsowah-Nuamah stated that the equipment only needed solar power to enable it work like a motorcycle. The wheelchair, according to him features a sounding system slot which could be used by the disabled driver to listen to radio stations.

The institute, has also managed to produce a cooker which is also solar powered and could be used to prepare rice.

In place of liquefied petroleum gas (lpg), cooks could fall on the new solar powered cooker to make a delicious meal.

The inovation comes along with a solar tracking device which stores energy anytime the sun is up till the time it finally sets down.
