Ghana for peace in elections 2012 campaign initiated

Eight year old Angela Mensah, a class four pupil of Morning Angels International School at Dome in Accra, has launched a campaign for a peaceful December general elections.

The campaign themed, “Ghana For Peace In Election 2012”, is aimed to create awareness on the need to ensure peace before, during and after the December 7, 2012, presidential and parliamentary elections.

In a statement copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Ms Mensah expressed concern about the destruction of human lives, famine and suffering in countries due to electoral disagreements in recent times.

“I have, thus, volunteered to become the ambassador of Ghanaian children to spread the peace message worldwide,” the statement said.

Ms Mensah has planned to embark on a nationwide tour to appeal to political leaders, the media, civil societies, the Electoral Commission, religious and traditional leaders and individuals to play their role in ensuring peaceful elections.
