The Agona East Inter Party Dialogue Committee (IPDC) has appealed to the Electoral Commission (EC) to as a matter of urgency update the biometric voters register, by deleting names of minors and aliens from the document, before 2012 Election .
It also asked the EC to publish names of electoral officers, who would be recruited to manage the polls, for public scrutiny, to avoid doubts and chaos.
These were contained in a communiqu issued by the IPDC, copied the Ghana News Agency, after a meeting, organized by the Star Ghana, a non-governmental organization (NGO), to discuss the December polls at Agona Nsaba on Monday.
The NGO seeks peaceful elections before, during and after the December polls.
The communiqu suggested that the EC should involve political parties in the distribution of election materials, be impartial in the discharge of its duties.
It asked the security agencies to deal ruthlessly with any person who might attempt to disrupt the electoral process, and to be vigilant at polling stations, to ensure peaceful counting of ballots.
The communiqu cautioned religious bodies not to turn their pulpits into political platforms in favour of any political party.
It appealed to political parties to properly train their polling officers, to enable them to report accurately on developments at polling centers, and warned political parties to refrain from announcing election results.
