Chairman for the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana, Dr. Kwadwo Afari Gyan, has summoned politicians to be grateful to him and his outfit for ensuring that voter registration in the country, is carried out in the open unlike other countries where political agents are prevented from policing the registration processes.
When we undertake the registration exercise, the party agents are there on daily basis and they can even challenge a person who appears because we do it in public, he highlighted.
Speaking in court as witness for the EC in the ongoing Supreme Court case, Mr. Afari Gyan made it clear that he and his team have recommended the practice to other countries but are yet to know if they have enforced it.
According to him, all political parties in Ghana were well involved in the registration process that took place before the general elections were held.
You may recall that in some cases, they may send you the registration form in a mail and you would fill it and send it back to the Electoral Commission, he revealed.
