The Head of the ECOWAS Election Observation Mission to Nigeria and former President of Ghana, John Agyekum Kufuor has challenged Nigerians and all political parties to owe it as a duty to ensure that Saturday's presidential and federal assembly elections are peaceful, credible, free, transparent and fair.

He asked to see the upcoming elections as efforts to deepen and consolidate democracy not only in Nigeria but also the sub-region and Africa as a whole.

Former President Kufuor said this when he addressed members of the ECOWAS election monitoring team in Abuja.

The former Ghana President was confident of a successful exercise Saturday.
