The Speaker of Parliament Edward Doe Adjaho says the difficult for developing democracies particularly Africa to adequately meet the financial resources required for effective oversight and scrutiny of government policies and programmes is a bane to accountable and responsive governance.
Mr. Doe Adjaho said this when he launched a 2.9 Million Dollar Parliament-Star-Ghana Partnership and Legacy Documents at Parliament on Friday.
The Parliament Star-Ghana Partnership programme is aimed at helping to enhance the capacity of Parliament to fulfil its mandate particularly in ensuring greater transparency, accountability and responsiveness in the delivery of goods and services in the country.
The Speaker noted that the partnership has a great potential to empower the MPs in the discharge of their duties.
