Tension is brewing in the Kadjebi District as Assembly Members, National Democratic Congress (NDC) executives and some residents are calling for an immediate probe into the activities of the DCE for the area, Seth Alifui, who has allegedly acquired a VW Jetta saloon car at the cost of GH17,000 and built a house within a few months of coming into office.

The suspicious officials, party members and residents further question the manner in which he spends the assembly funds. In response, the DCE told Daily Guide that he won lottery, a development his enemies were envious of, hence using every means to uproot him from his position as DCE. However, a member of the assembly reacted thus: “We are only suprised that this man who borrowed money in the heat of the campaign and lobbied for cash to enable him make his rounds for the position as DCE, has built a house and bought a car in just the five months of coming into office. One of the aggrieved party men went further: “look my brother, this same man sold his vehicle to campaign when he was short of money.

Where did he suddenly get these riches from?” “To the best of our knowledge, the DCE has not been paid his salary yet to enable him buy such an expensive car and rebuild his father’s house. He started the building when he came into office and bought the car in less than two months; how?” The DCE admitted that he has bought the vehicle and reconstructed his father’s house but said luck smiled on him when he hit a lottery jackpot, running into thousands of Ghana cedis, though he did not reveal the exact amount he won.

He noted that although he bought the car before winning the lottery, he purchased it on credit with a loan from his bankers and is yet to complete payment. Alifui warned his critics to stop thinking of how to pull him down but rather join him to develop the district.
