The daughter of Ghana痴 first President, Samia Yaaba Nkrumah, says she is 妬mpatient to change things in the CPP and has therefore dismissed criticism from some members of the party, as well as assertions by her brother Sekou, that she appears in too much of a hurry to take up political positions she probably is not prepared for.

Ms Nkrumah, who is currently the only Member of Parliament for the Convention Peoples Party (CPP), representing the Jomoro constituency, has given clear indications that she is interested in the chairmanship of her father痴 party.

She has however come under criticism from people within the CPP, politically active Ghanaians and some pundits who believe her desire to win what is arguably the party痴 most powerful office smacks of over-ambition.

Her brother Sekou Nkrumah, who is a member of the governing NDC, has panned her political ambitions, insisting she 妬s in too much of a hurry.

Speaking in an earlier interview, Sekou said, 的 do not know if she can do it. Is it because she is Nkrumah痴 daughter or because she has some qualities? I do not know if 奏oo much of a hurry is the right word but it seems she is not really taking her time to understand the situation and why things happened in a certain way and understanding why the CPP is where it is today.

However, speaking on Joy FM on Tuesday July 26, 2011, Ms Nkrumah dismissed such claims, maintaining that her brother and others who think like him have 殿 pessimistic view and there are some of us who think that politics is the art of the possible and that everything is possible with organisation, hard work and sacrifice.

She added: 徹f course we are impatient to change things, some of us cannot tolerate situations that are not credible..., I am in a great hurry to revive our tradition, what is wrong with that?

的 want to win the chairmanship position and my constituency as well because I have no other engagements. Many of us, so called leading members will have to do more than one task, the situation requires it.

She contested the Jomoro seat in 2008 against a senior member of the same party who was also the incumbent, Freddy Blay and won.

This time, she has to contend with incumbent party chairman Lady Nylander, Araba Bentsi-Enchill and former chairman Edmund Delle for the chairmanship of Dr Kwame Nkrumah痴 CPP.
