The National Security coordinator is chiding ex-president John Kufuor for not seeking wise security counsel in the construction of the Golden Jubilee House, now Flagstaff House.
According to Gbevlo Lartey the House as it stands today, is too vulnerable and makes it unsafe for President John Mills to live in.
Speaking to Joy News Sammy Darko, the security coordinator said the Flagstaff House which was inhabited by Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, albeit, for a short period, was a complete security enclave with the protection of the president guaranteed.
When Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah was living there it was a complete security enclave that was put up in such a way that you would have to be taken around before you will know where the leader is. Right now it is not that way. The whole place is naked and standing there, he noted.
He wondered, if at all, security considerations were put into the building of the new edifice.
His comments follow agitations that President John Mills should move into the new and improved Flagstaff House, in the wake of the recent publication about his Regimanuel Gray mansion for security personnel.
Asked what the NDC government has been doing to improve upon the security situation, the security coordinator retorted; we are in the process of doing that. These things dont take a day. It takes time. For instance we are not going there with guns and ask the French Embassy to pack out of the place.
Everything in this country is done according to rule of law. These things take funds; it takes redesigning. The planning and preparation that should have gone into these things were completely ignored.
But the spokesperson of the ex-president is unhappy with the utterances of the security coordinator.
Frank Agyakum stated no serious government will put up such a crucial edifice without taking into consideration the presidents security.
He found Gbevlo Larteys comments distasteful and unfortunate.
